Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 6:00 a.m. in "The City.

I got up around 5:00 a.m. as my left shoulder was aching a bit. Nothing serious, just the normal ache that comes with this stage of my recovery, which by the by, is going well. In fact, I used only my right-hand to clear some snow mounds for the fur-children. So, I'm still not really using my left-side much, but I am feeling well enough right now. I can definitively say, "Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of my life", I'll be all better. That's an almost direct quote from Humphrey Bogart's character, Rick, near the end of one of my all-time favorite movies, Casablanca.

We didn't get much done yesterday. Well, I did get out for an abbreviated haircut owing to my follically challenged status, and afterwards I did some crossword puzzles and made my vegan soy-curl jerky. Somewhere in there, Mary made another favorite, slow-cooker bean soup, which became dinner.

We had to go out to drop off a package @ UPS, and go to the grocery store in Spring Lake for humidifier water, but that was about it. Hmm. busier than I thought. Maybe today, we can get to those indoor chores.

We have a current temperature of 37° that feels more like 31°, as we rise towards today's forecast high of 47° with a 100% chance for rain. Rain is also happening right now outside the WW. Tomorrow, the high is forecast  to reach 53°! Don't get too excited my loyal readers, high temperatures won't rebound into the 40s again until next Tuesday. But, after that it looks like we are there to stay.

I saw something yesterday that may or may not be peculiar to Michigan. As I walked to the barber shop, I watched as a BMW convertible drove by with its top down and its side windows up. Two people in the front seat were wearing snow mobile helmets to ward off the cold. I think they should have had the courage of their convictions and turned up the heater and eschewed the helmets. Just saying.

I think that it is time for more weather and other news from the baseball world. The Cubs are still training in Mesa, AZ, where the current temperature is 50° as the Cuba anticipate a high to day of 63° under partly-cloudy skies. In more news from Mesa, the Cubs have a "Rookie" left-handed, 37 year-old pitcher in camp, Luke Hagerty, attempting a comeback. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in 2002. His current velocity has been measured in the mid to upper 90s, and his breaking pitches are doing just that, breaking. His comeback attempt is eerily similar to that of Dennis Quaid in the movie. The Rookie.

Quaid starred as a high-school chemistry teacher and baseball coach, Jim Morris, who suddenly found his arm strength returning to his glory days. He had had a brief career in the major leagues before a shoulder injury ended his career. He comes back to play in the majors for one season and then goes back to doing what he had been doing, teaching high school chemistry and coaching.

In the ensuing 13 years since his last baseball start, Hagerty received a degree from Arizona State University and has been successfully running a sports training company he founded,  X2 Athletic Performance in Scottsdale, AZ. He was encouraged by his children to give it one more try. Will he make it? Who knows, but stranger things have happened, although Hagerty is "Shut Down" right now to rest his 37 year old arm.

In Ft. Myers, FL, where the current temperature is 68° as the day progresses towards the high of 85°, Red Sox pitcher, David Price, is feeling good this spring. He hopes to have an injury-free major-league campaign in 2019. Sox' manager, Alex Cora, is going to take it slow with Price to keep him healthy all year. Here's one member of Red Sox Nation who has his fingers crossed.

In Lakeland, FL, the current temperature is 60° as the Tigers anticipate today's high of 81°. The Tigers young, 25 year old pitcher, Daniel Norris, was struggling this spring until veteran pitcher, Jordan Zimmerman watched Norris throw and offered him some advice on his mechanics. Apparently, according to Zimmerman, Norris was not finishing his pitches, probably as a result of wishing to avoid re-injury. A bit of an adjustment and Norris is now getting hitters out.

It should be a slow day today, indoor chores, a visit to the chiropractor for both of us this afternoon and some work in the man-cave for me. Mary will continue her knitting and whatever else strikes either of our fancies. The sun will rise @ 8:00 a.m .and set this evenbing @ 7:48 p.m. Ciao.
