Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 1:30 a.m. in "The City."

I was outside with Ginger @ 12:30 a.m. and the weather is as advertised, 53° and cloudy. We had a nice warm day yesterday with a high that was in the 70s. Later today, after the sun rises @ 6:25 a.m., the NWS is forecasting a high of 65° under partly cloudy skies. The sun will set later today @ 8:57 p.m.

The only trainspotting yesterday was the MMRR signal inspector doing his monthly rounds to check the signals for a safety. As long as his inspection doesn't find any problems, the crossing is good to go for another month. What happens between his checks is anybody's guess.

I got our veggies planted yesterday along with mowing the vast lawns of the PE. Ginger was out with me when I was planting. In between, I made another extraordinary beest and did some other indoor chores.

Sports news yesterday was 3/4 bad. The Cubs lost to the Rockies, 0 - 3. That drops the Cubs into 4th place in the NL Central with a record of 17 - 17. The Cubs are off until Friday when they play the Cardinals in St. Louis @ 8:15 p.m. The Cubs rock-solid pitching staff of last season has turned into the Jello Squad this season.

The Tigers fared no better as they lost to the D'Backs, 1 - 7. The Tigers pitching staff is having a rough season too. The loss finds the Tigers solidly in 3d place in the AL Central with a 16 - 16 record. The Tigers play the Angels in La La land tonight @ 10:07 p.m.

My beloved Red Sox lost to the Brewers yesterday, 4 - 7. That gives the Sox a 17 - 16 record in the AL East, good only for 3rd place. The Sox and the Brewers play again today @ 1:10 p.m.

The lone bright spot was the Caps 3 - 0 win over the Peoria Chiefs yesterday to move the Caps to 21 - 12 and into 2nd place in the MWL East. The Caps are in Burlington, IA to face the Bees, the"A" level affiliate of the Angels, @ 7:30 p.m.

I'll be off the blogosphere for a few days, but stay tuned for better sports news in the future, I hope. Ciao.
