Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 4:30 a.m. in "The City."
This should be easy. The current temperature, according to both the DTWS and the NWS, is 40°. Starting today @ 7:00 a.m., the NWS has issued a High Wind Warning for Ottawa, County that is effective until 7:00 p.m. this evening. Winds are forecast to blow steadily all day @ around 25 - 30 mph with occasional gusts in excess of 50 mph! The NWS cautions that unlike recent windy days, there is a much greater chance of power outages, downed tree limbs, and trees being blown over. Good news, though, the winds should be abating by early evening. All of this just in time for my appointment in GR.
Yesterday we didn't do much, at least I didn't, the way I like it. Mary worked in her office, thus eliminating any recurrence of her Monday travails and allowing me to spend time reading. I am nearly halfway done with my latest pulp-fiction novel, The Midnight Bell, by Jack Higgins. As usual, I'm like his work. Naturally, this book has as its main protagonist Sean Dillon, a former Irish Republican Army "soldier" who now works for a special unit of British Intelligence. The cast of characters is familiar and what's not to like about a character who enjoys Bushmills Irish Whiskey™ and playing music?
We did take a short trip to the local big-box home center where we determined that a plan that we had for shelves in the kitchen window would not work. We are now on to plan "B" which calls for me to create some macrame plant hangers. We shall see.
As previously noted, we're off to GR today. Mary plans to take her computer with her so that she can work while I am otherwise occupied. I'll be lying in an MRI machine for my latest scan on my well-imaged noggin. I don't anticipate any problems, but I like to get an MRI done every now and then to confirm my good health. Results should be available in a few days.
That looks like enough for today. The Wind, the trip to GR for my MRI, and Mary working as I get imaged and while I read. The fur-children will get their morning/afternoon walk early today and then we will be off. I may see the morning southbound run of the train on the RSTL, but we'll likely be in GR when the northbound run goes by.
The sun will rise into those windy skies @ 7:08 a.m. and set later this evening @ 6:43 p.m. Ciao.
Weather Update! I was just outside with Ginger @ 5:00 a.m. and as yet, the day is quiet. If you listen closely, you can hear the waves crashing against the north pier/lighthouses @ the mouth of the Grand River where it enters Lake Michigan. I may have to take my camera so that when we return from GR, I can get some pictures of the action.
