Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:00 a.m. in "The City."
Stay calm my loyal readers, STWD is OK. She got into an altercation yesterday morning with a local dog while we were out on safari and her ear got a bit bloody. However, a little first-aid by yours truly and it looks like she will be fine. I panicked Mary needlessly when I called her, so she and Ginger sought a ride with a pair of sailors from the Coast Guard station here in GH to get home more quickly. It looked worse than it was, but Sugar is my baby and so I guess I was more worried/panicked than she. Still, Sugar was clingy for much of the afternoon.
Later, after I went to the chiropractor, Mary joined me @ JWs and she left Ginger to her own devices without putting her in her crate. Ginger did fine, so here's hoping for more "Safe" days, safe for Ginger and safe for our furnishings and belongings. Ginger and I were outside @ 12;30 a.m. for her basic needs.
Speaking of the chiropractor, he had to agree that the right course of action is a visit to the P/T therapist and the hospital for an MRI. I wish I could say that my yak was feeling better, but I can't. I don't do chronic pain well. Sigh. At any rate, I have an appointment with the P/T therapist today @ 1:30 p.m. I will insist on further efforts with imaging to get a clearer picture of my malady that has spread from my yak to my hip joint. I can sit for a while, I can stand for a while, but walking produces serious pain very quickly and as the lyrics from the Temptations song of long ago, Papa Was a Rolling Stone, "And that ain't right."
We had a problem with the ceiling fan in the media room that tried to fall off the ceiling, a problem that John resolved with a bit of ingenuity. However, now, he has to patch and paint the ceiling in there and since he is at it, he'll paint the ceiling in my office too and then reinstall the fan. We just thought we were done.
Sports news was about half good yesterday/early this morning. The Tigers fell to the Pirates in Pittsburgh last night, 0 - 3 to fall to 51 - 60 and stay firmly rooted in 4th place in the AL Central, nine games ahead of that other team from Chicago. The Tigers and the Pirates play again tonight @ 7:05 p.m.
The Cubs just finished up their game on the West Coast against the Giants with a 5 - 3 win that included an inside the park home run off the bat of Javier Baez. He drove the ball deep into the 421-foot corner of AT&T park that caromed off the wall, eluded the Giants right fielder and allowed Baez to scamper home just ahead of the tag. It was thrilling, to say the least. The 1st place Cubs now have a record of 58 - 52 in the NL Central and are 1.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Brewers who lost earlier last night. The Cubs hope to continue their winning ways against the Giants tonight @ 10:15 p.m.
My beloved 1st place Red Sox were off yesterday as were the 2nd place Yankees, so the 63 - 49 Sox retained a full three game lead over the Yankees in the AL East. The Sox travel to Tampa Bay tonight to face the Rays @ 7:10 p.m.
The Caps had another good night as they defeated the Lake, County, OH Captains 4 - 0 to hold onto 1st place in the MWL East by 2.5 games over the 2nd place TinCaps. The Caps and the Captains play today @ 12:00 p.m.
There were two trains that plied the RSTL yesterday. The morning train with locomotives 2019 and 2057 rolled through heading south @ 10:03 a.m. but stopped for seven minutes blocking three crossings in GH. Once they got rolling again, I was able to note that there were 19 CHCs, 10 DBTCs and eight DWTCs in tow. I heard the train pass by later @ 4:00 p.m., but I have no details.
It is time for the annual Pirate Festival here in GH. Lots of Aarhs will be verbalized and the local children and many adults will have a great time during their stay. What's that old joke, "Where do Pirates like to eat lunch? "Arbys, of course!"
The turmoil with the ceiling fan, the dog altercation and the general hubbub around the manse yesterday combined to forestall the indexing. Mary has to get to work early today and I will have to assist as much as possible. The fur-children will have to have an abbreviated safari this morning to facilitate that activity before we leave for the P/T appointment in the early afternoon.
The current temperature is 60° under what the NWS is calling clear skies. I don't agree, but they are never quite right for GH. We got rain yesterday morning that wasn't a high percentage part of their forecast. The high temperature is forecast to be 77° under sunny skies after the sun rises @ 6:43 a.m. and well before it sets @ 8:56 p.m. Ciao.
