Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 2:30 a.m. in "The City."
I confess I couldn't sleep. I also confess that the cause is my baking yak, no joke. The ache isn't sharp nor acute, but it is chronic. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."
We have a current temperature of 61° under partly cloudy skies according to the NWS. Later today, the high temperature has been forecast to reach 76°, also under partly cloudy skies. The sun will rise @ 6:41 a.m. and set tonight @ 8:58 p.m. Once again, "That's all I have to say about that."
Well, it's finally over, Coast Guard Festival 2017 is in the books and by all appearances, people came and enjoyed themselves, with the exception of this past Friday, when the rain and cool temperatures kept the crowds down. It seems as though the people made up for Friday yesterday if the attendance @ the annual Coast Guard Festival Parade and the annual Coast Guard Festival Craft Fair was any barometer. Mary did go to the craft fair, but I stayed back to rest my yak. It didn't help. Neither of us went to the parade nor the fireworks display last night, though Mary did watch the fireworks out her office window. Ginger was nonplussed by the fireworks and STWD was calmed by her Thundershirt™.
Sports news yesterday was 3/4 good.
The Cubs behind John Lackey and with the aid of a three-run home run off the bat of catcher Willson Contreras, defeated the Washington Nationals, 7 - 4 to move to 58 - 51 in the NL Central and stay in first place by 1/2 game over the Brewers, who also won.
It is worthy of note that the 78 - 32 Dodgers lead the NL West by 14.5 games over the 2nd place Rockies with their record of 64 - 47, while the 64 - 44 Nats lead the NL East by 13 games over the 2nd place Marlins who are underwater with a record of 51 - 57. In the NL East, the 2nd place Marlins are not doing well. In the NL West, the 3rd place AZ D'backs have a better win/loss record than the Cubs. Are those teams that good or bad? I can't answer that, I'll let their records speak for themselves. At any rate, the Cubs and the Nats play again today @ 2:20 p.m.l in Chicago.
The Tigers reverted to form as they dropped another game to the Orioles last night, 2 - 5. That gives the Tigers an AL Central 4th place record of 51 - 58. The Tigers and the Orioles play again today @ 1:35 p.m. in Baltimore as they battle for the best seat on the couch this fall.
My beloved Red Sox defeated that other team from Chicago last night in an AL East versus AL Central match up. The Sox now have a solid three game lead over the 2nd place Yankees with a record of 62 - 49. Once again, the disparity in the records of the various division leaders speaks to something, I'm just not sure what. The Sox and that other team play again today @ Fenway @ 1:35 p.m.
The Caps handily defeated the Lake, County, OH Captains last night 5 - 0 to stay atop the MWL East with an overall record of 29 - 1, three games ahead of the 2nd place TinCaps in the 2nd half of the MWL season. The Caps and the Captains face off again tonight @ 5:00 p.m.
I finished my latest reading yesterday and I feel as though the book's ending just petered out, as though Grisham was tired of writing. Just one man's opinion. On to my next book sometime later today, directly after we work on the current indexing project and also after the morning safari which will be abbreviated due to my baking yak.
I thought my yak was doing well early yesterday morning while I was blogging, but by the time I got up from my night's sleep later in the morning, it was not so good. I will await the call from the P/T office and also visit the chiropractor later on Monday. Mary has said she will take me to the ER if I haven't improved, but this is not really something that the ER doctors can fix quickly as that is not what an ER is for. So, I am not sure if that is an option that I wish to explore.
Otherwise, "That's all I have to say about that." Ciao.
