Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 3:00 a.m. in"The City."

I was asleep in my trusty chair when I awoke to find myself all alone. Well not really alone, just not in the presence of my wife or fur-children who had gone to bed while I wasn't looking. I tried joining them, but after about 45 minutes, I realized that that wasn't going to work, so here I am.

We have a current temperature of 41° under clear skies as we head down to our overnight low of 39°. Good news, today's high is expected to reach 52° under mostly sunny skies here in GH, on the shores of the "Big Lake." We are planning to go on a river cruise aboard the Grand Lady riverboat this afternoon, but that is more inland near Jenison, MI, where the NWS is showing today's high will be 66° under sunny skies.

It is always interesting to me how being just a few miles inland, away from Lake Michigan's shores, changes the temperatures significantly. That distance also changes the amount of snowfall too. Another interesting factoid, that while the sun will rise today @ 6:22 a.m. and set later @ 9:00 p.m. here in GH, the sun will rise in Jenison @ 6:21 a.m. and set later @ 8:58 p.m.

We had a mostly successful trip to that big-box nearly everything store for some groceries. Typical of that store in particular, they're often out of stock on what we consider staple items. We also had STWD slightly tuned up @ the groomers, but Ginger was left behind for a complete makeover. She looks terrific, but she was totally exhausted by the experience.

She needed her beauty rest to get over her spa visit.
Baseball news yesterday was limited. Both the victorious Cubs and my beloved Red Sox had the day off yesterday before returning to action tonight in Cincinnati @ 6:40 p.m. and in Boston @ 7:10 p.m. tonight. The Tigers probably wish they'd had the night off too, as they fell to the Astros, 1 - 8. They will try again tonight @ 7:10 p.m. The Caps also should have had the night off, as they lost to the Lansing Lugnuts, 2 - 4. The Caps and the Lugnuts return to action today @ 10:35 a.m.

Meals yesterday were totally vegan and homemade. Lunch was a vegan BLT, sans the T, and dinner was a very tasty vegan lasagna. Mary applied her culinary skills to both, making the tempeh based "bacon" for the BL, sans T sandwiches, and also on the lasagna, that was suggested by our purchase earlier of the whole-wheat lasagna noodles. I should note, that while I didn't have to empty the dishwasher on my trip down to the kitchen this morning, I did have to clean up the stove from
Mary's homemade sauce. Tomato based sauces have a way of finding the nooks and crannies on the stove-top.

Otherwise, not much is happening. Ciao.
