Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and across the world. It is just past 3:00 a.m. in "The City."

The current temperature is 58° under partly-cloudy skies. The overnight low is forecast to drop down to 54°. The sun will rise today @ 7:18 a.m. and it will set later @ 8:05 p.m. Today's high temperature of 74° will also be under partly-cloudy skies. There still exists that  50% chance for rain/T-storms on Tuesday, which may stretch into the ensuing days of the workweek. We shall see what happens here in GH.

We had a relatively quiet day yesterday following a brunch of my latest version of vegan beest with a side of my original recipe vegan Coleslaw. We lazed about during the afternoon, working the crossword puzzle from the weekend edition of the Grand Haven Tribune and reading more from our shared non-fiction book, Joy Reid's The Man Who Stole America.

Dinner was another of Mary's best effort to date meals. This time, she created a vegan lasagna that tasted superb. The fur-children shared the last of the whole-wheat noodles, which they waited impatently to receive. Ginger was so afraid that STWD would try to steal Ginger's piece, that she ran upstairs and hid under the bed until she had devoured hers. Then she returned to the kitchen to see if there would be any other "Treats" given.

Later, we took a walk to the library with the fur-children and returned to watch the Cubs lose yet another game to the Brewers and lose yet another game in the standings in the NL Central to the division leading St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Once they were done, I violated another of my rules and I turned on the Detroit Lions game against the Arizona Cardinals NFL team.

At one point, the Lions had an 18 point lead over those Cardinals, only to see the Lions snatch a tie from a seemingly sure victory that ended in overtime with the game tied, 23 - 23. I suppose it could be worse, but this was not an auspicious beginning for the Lions in 2019.

By the by, my beloved Red Sox lost another game to the AL East leading Yankees 5 - 10, after which it was announced that Dave Dombrowski was out as team president of the Red Sox. Dombrowski was hired in 2015 to rebuild the Red Sox and they have finished atop the AL East every year since, winning the World Series in 2018. However this year, the Sox have underachieved and watched as the Yankees have sat atop the division for months while the Sox have languished in 3rd place.

The move came as a shock to Sox field manager Alex Cora and many of the players, but they had to admit that baseball is a business and winning the World Series is the goal every year.

It makes me wonder what will happen to Cubs field manager Joe Maddon and perhaps team president Theo Epstein, if the Cubs fail to achieve their objective for the third year in a row. At a minimum, there are likely to be several high-profile trades of the core players that helped propel the Cubs to their first and only World Series win in over 100 years in 2016! Are there any untouchable players on the Cubs roster? Is Joe Maddon's job safe?

The Tigers achieved a milestone of their own, losing their 100th game to the Oakland As, 1 - 3. The Tigers have not only failed to achieve the World Series this year, they have seen former players achieve success for other teams, most notably, Justin Verlander who now pitches for the Astros.

All in all, it should be an interesting winter for all of my baseball teams.

Today, I hope to read more, play with the girls more, walk with the fur-children more, and watch as other people do the things that I can't or don't want to do, such as paining the walls of the manse and doing some housecleaning.

In yet another aside, the snow removal man came by on Friday and determined that his equipment is too large to fit down our shared driveway. So, we are back to square-one and in search of an answer to the removal of the snow from the driveway and the deck, dog-run, and front porch.

Otherwise, that looks like enough for one day/night. Ciao.
