Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be, across the nation and
across the world. It is just past 5:30 a.m. in "The City."
The current temperature is 66° under partly-cloudy skies. The sun will
rise today @ 7:19 a.m. and set later @ 8:02p.m. The NWS is forecasting a 30% chance for isolated T-storms this morning and a high temperature of 76°. Tomorrow, there is a forecast for scattered T-storms @ 60% and Friday's forecast calls for an 80% chance for T-storms in the morning. STWD was not happy yesterday with the thunder, so she will also not be happy for the next two days.
Baseball had an interesting night last night. The 77 - 67, 2nd place in the NL Central Cubs were looking good for about 9 1/2 innings and then reliever Steve Cishek walked three straight Padres in the top of the 10th that allowed the Padres to score a walk-off 10 - 9 win. Kris Bryant and Jason Heyward each hit two home runs, but that was not enough to overcome the lack of pitching early in the game. The Cubs and the 67 - 77 Padres play again tonight @ 10:10 p.m. EDT.
The Cubs still have hopes for the post-season and the Wild Card race, but the sidelining of Javier Baez, the extended stay on the IR for closer Craig Kimbrel, and the injury to Addison Russell all will make that much harder for the Cubs.
My beloved 76 - 69, 3rd place in the AL East Red Sox , were defeated by the 56 - 89, 4th place Blue Jays in Toronto last night, 3 - 4. The Sox hopes for the pot-season are fading fast. Boston sends another unknown pitcher to the mound tonight in Toronto @ 7:07 p.m. The CEO/Team President of the Sox, Sam Kennedy, expressed confidence in field manager Alex Cora, one day after the firing of Dave Dombrowski. Kennedy and the team ownership say they have "great confidence" in the job that Cora has done with the Sox. Look out Alex, that is all too often the harbinger of worse things to follow.
The 43 - 100, 5th place in the AL Central Tigers, slipped past the 1st place in the AL East Yankees 11 - 10 in a walk-off win. This game was filled with six home runs by the Yankees and 14 singles by the Tigers. Tonight's game will feature the Tigers' Matthew Boyd against the Yankees C.C. Sabathia @ 6:40 p.m.
I had a good time at my Coffee and Coloring session at the library yesterday. I learned some new things and had some good conversations.
While I was out, Mary took care of the fur-children before the T-storms set in, She received our latest piece of yard-art, a windmill/weather-vane that required some assembly. It does look nice in our parkway garden now that it has been assembled.
We went walkabout yesterday afternoon to the downtown of GH and then stopped off at JWs for libations before we came home to Mary's version of vegan "Pigs in a blanket", accompanied by applesauce. Today there is nothing on tap of note. The heavy rains of yesterday negated any need for watering of the vast gardens and so we have nothing to do but read, play with the girls, do some cross-stitching, perhaps some art, and enjoy retirement. Ciao.
