Good morning or good evening, wherever you may be. It is just past 12:00 a.m. in "The City."

Let me start with what is really important, Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win!, 5 - 3 over the Cardinals in an NL Central matchup. That win was the Cubs 8th out of 9 tries since the All-Star break for a 51 - 46 record and when coupled with the loss yesterday by the Brewers, the Cubs have pulled into a 1st place tie with the Brewers. Solid pitching, timely hitting, and terrific defense combined to give the Cubs their win and a chance to send the fans home happy. The Cubs return to the field this afternoon @ 2:20 p.m. to face that other team from Chicago, a team that always seems to rise to the occasion and give the Cubs a fight.

The Tigers are trying to prove that they are not a bad baseball team, but the truth is there for everyone to see. The Tigers are already trading players and planning for the future of the franchise. The Tigers won their AL Central game against the Twins yesterday 9 - 6 to rise to 45 - 52 and hold onto 4th place, six full games ahead of that aforementioned other team from Chicago. The Tigers host the visiting Royals tonight @ 7:10 p.m.

My beloved Red Sox are still not playing well, losing to the red-hot Dodgers, 2 - 3 on the West Coast. That gives the 1st place in the AL East Sox an overall record of 55 - 45, 2. 5 games ahead of the Yankees. The Sox travel up the coast to Seattle to play the Mariners tonight @ 10:10 p.m.

The Caps fared better in Beloit last night as they defeated the Snappers 6 - 4 in an MWL cross-division match. The 1st place in the MWL East White Caps now own a record of 21 - 7, three full games ahead of the 2nd place TinCaps. The Caps are in Beloit again today @ 1:05 p.m.

Otherwise, not much happened yesterday I mowed the lawns of the vast PE and harvested our first zucchini and cucumber. Both look great. I have to find a way to use the zucchini in one recipe or another. There are more to follow. Same with the cucumbers.

We have a current temperature of 69° under partly cloudy skies. Today, the NWS is forecasting a high temperature of 78°, also under partly cloudy skies. The NWS is also forecasting a 90% chance of rain on Thursday. Today the sun will rise @ 6:27 a.m. and set tonight @ 9:14 p.m.

I have an appointment at the chiropractor this afternoon after getting my few hairs cut @ noon. Mary is working on the catalog index and she feels as though it will be straightforward.

I am plowing through another novel in large print format, my favorite. Ciao.
